Documents Point to Politics in EPA Decision

By Arthur Allen 02/26/2008 05:13PM

The Los Angeles Times reports further details on the EPA's internal communications prior to Administrator Stephen L. Johnson's refusal to let the state regulate greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles. The Times uses documents released today by the office of Barbara Boxer (D-Ca), who's been fighting to get the EPA to cough up message traffic between Johnson and the White House. The assumption, which I aired a few weeks ago, is that the White House put the kabosh on California's regs because it's hoping to avoid the larger implications: if you start regulating CO2 emissions from cars, power plants and other industries will have to follow.
