Huck Watch!

Mike Huckabee's long-in-coming concession speech to John McCain on Tuesday night made clear that the bass-playing Baptist preacher isn't yet ready to exit the stage.

"We want to be a part of helping to keep the issues alive that kept us in this race," Huckabee told his supporters, his wife Janet at his side. "Until our country is all that we hope and pray it to be, we won't be able to walk away completely."

In case you missed it, The Washington Times had a good story on just what Huckabee may have in mind:

"He has become the leader of a new generation of Christian conservative voters," said Rex Nelson, who was communications director when Mr. Huckabee was Arkansas' governor. "The old leadership has either passed on in the case of [the Rev. Jerry] Falwell or become either irrelevant or out of touch — the Pat Robertson endorsement of Rudy Giuliani proves that."

"There is nobody else you can identify outside of Mike Huckabee as a leading person to take on that role, really in a new era where evangelicals care about a lot of things like the environment and working with the poor," Mr. Nelson said.

Of course, vice president would be pretty cool, too.

Ah, the good Rev. Huck. Golly Huck, whom would Jesus torture? Gee-whiz Huck, whom would Jesus drop those cluster-bombs on? Whom would Jesus rendition then detain? Whom would Jesus go to war on? I mean beside the obvious “crusade against Muslims.” Gosh Rev. Huck, what would Jesus have to say about that apartheid wall around the West Bank? Gosh Huck-meister, did you know that Bethlehem is IN the West Bank? Why it certainly is. Wow Huck-a-berry, that would mean that Jesus is Palestinian! Oh holy that changes everything don’t it? Yeah, those precious Evangelicals and the good Rev. Huck sure like to “spin” their realities don’t they? Yup. they sure as hell do. So according to Rex Nelson, “he (Huck) has become the leader of a new generation of Christian conservative voters.” Right. Would that mean that the good Rev. Huck is blind and is leading the blind? Those who have ears, let them hear!
