MoveOn Goes After Obama Over FISA Support

By Mike Lillis 06/23/2008 05:15PM

It'd be tough to find a group more friendly to Sen. Barack Obama than MoveOn.org, but that, it seems, doesn't mean the liberal mobilizer isn't prepared to push him on the issues. The group is hardly pleased, for example, about Obama's Friday announcement that he'll support the warrantless wiretapping proposal that passed the House last week. Civil libertarians have skewered the bill -- and its Democratic supporters -- because it lets the telecoms off the hook for their participation in the controversial program.

In an email blast sent over the weekend, MoveOn reminds its members of Obama's promise last fall to filibuster any proposal granting immunity for the telecoms.

"Can you call Sen. Obama today and tell him you're counting on him to keep his word?" the email asks.

Another dose of “more of the same”. A classic example of say one thing and do another which is really getting very old.

I am very disappointed. Especially when it is Senator O’Bama who is asking for my vote and belief in his ability to bring about change in Washington.

Go get him Moveon, org. And while your at it you can nail “Grandpa Munster” (McCain) to the wall as well.

Disappointed

Change is the watchword of your campaign.

Change is the basis of your campaigns success.

Change requires action that follows the words.

Unfortunately on FISA you have ducked the action.

I guess its true, “The more things change; the more they stay the same.”

I will vote for you now as the lesser of two evils. Unfortunately.

Auwe, Auwe!!!

His recent decisions have made me cringe. I think mostly its election time rhetoric though. By endorsing FISA he takes away McCain’s ability to attack him over it. He trails in public opinion of his national security policy. This is unfortunate because it’s the kind of politics he preaches against, but the other side will stop at nothing to gain control of the White House also. I have to say I would rather see Obama in there than McCain. This support of FISA by Obama is purely political I believe. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
