MoveOn.org, the liberal 527 group, has recruited John Cusack, who first made his name holding a Peter Gabriel-blaring boombox above his head, to appear in its latest TV attack ad. According to The Associated Press, the 30-second spot will air on the Bravo network, CNN, MSNBC and Comedy Central -- all known for attracting liberal viewers. In the ad, Cusack, set against a rapid-fire succession of different-colored backgrounds, challenges viewers to pick who holds a variety of liberal-unfriendly positions, Sen. John McCain or President George W. Bush. The trick? They both do. The Associated Press reports Cusack, an Obama supporter, decided to jump into the political debate because of his frustration with the war in Iraq.
"I know my opinion doesn't matter more than anyone else's and I just make films," [Cusack] told The Associated Press in a phone interview Wednesday. "But I do feel you have to speak out, and that's what I'm doing."
The ad may entice viewers to check out Cusack's new film, "War, Inc.," a political satire, which opened in limited release last month to lackluster reviews.

Moveon.org definitely has the balls we need right now. I pride myself in being a “bleeding heart” liberal to the max. Hey, when I’m called that I know it means I HAVE a heart. I just wish they would go after their other enemies (wingnut televangelists with their megachurches – I call them Christofascists). We are all in a war – not the one in Iraq – it’s the war right here at home. Some people call it a “culture war” but it’s very real. It’s the progressives vs. the regressives. The progressives have entities like Moveon.org, the ACLU and HRC. The regressives have as their generals James Dobson, Tony Perkins and Beverly LaHaye. And make no mistake about it, the regressives want BLOOD. They feel they’ve been betrayed by Bush in the sense that he didn’t go as far as they wanted him to. He concentrated on
