New Bing West Iraq Book May Be A COIN Classic

Dave Dilegge of Small Wars Journal has the galleys of Bing West's forthcoming Iraq book The Strongest Tribe. I'll admit right now that the title strikes me as somewhat tin-eared and triumphalist -- we hold the initiative more than, for instance, the Jabouri tribe? -- but West, a Marine veteran of Vietnam, knows a ton about strategy. Dave says it's already a counterinsurgency classic:

The early pages and reviews indicate that The Strongest Tribe will be acknowledged as a classic work on counterinsurgency in Iraq – much like The Village defined COIN in Vietnam.
